Committee Members

Roy McGregor - President

Compared to many of the Committee, Carol and I are relative newcomers to the island having only moved here in late 2006. A chartered accountant by training and now a banker by profession, we left Glasgow in 1984 for Hong Kong, initially for two years but subsequently stayed in the region for twelve - enjoying the delights of Singapore and Bangkok and their different cultures. During our travels, however, we were heavily involved with the various St Andrew’s Societies in each city. We have two “children” who have now flown the nest and are keen fans of football (Carol) and rugby ( Roy ).

Kenny Lloyd - Vice President

Born in Baillieston, I started school in Singapore and ended it in Dunfermline with stop overs in Southampton and Hamilton. Having studied, lived and worked in Edinburgh, I moved to Guernsey in 1985 to take up a position in the then Board of Health. I continue to work in the Adult disability service of the renamed HSSD. I am married to Anne who hails from Linlithgow, we have two daughters Emma (18) and Kate(15). I am a keen supporter of Scotland's national football and rugby teams, along with my club team Hibernian. My membership of the GSA goes back to when we used to hold our major events in the Trelade hotel.

Stuart Hardie - Secretary

Married to Sally, Stuart is a Surveyor who moved to Guernsey in 1980 when working on a project in the Bordage for Balfour Beatty/RG Falla and has hardly been away since. Rugby fan, played and coached into his mid 50s. His pleasure is to get away to see Scotland play 2 or 3 times per season. A keen golfer. After the rugby came the golf. Played with modest handicap and enthusiasm.
A past President of the GSA.
"I seem to have been on the committee since Adam was a boy and helped with Christmas and Halloween parties, St Andrews and Burns Nights, Scottish country dancing, the Channel Highland Games and the golf, of course."

Grant Howitt - Membership Secretary

Born and bred in Newport-On-Tay in Fife, Grant is a Scottish Chartered Accountant who moved to Guernsey in 1988 to work for the Reads Group. Almost 22 years on, he is still with the same company now known as Intertrust and where he is a director in their Trust & Corporate Services division. Grant is married to Susan, who originates from Broughty Ferry, and has two boys, Blair aged 16 and Scott aged 12. He is an avid follower of Dundee United FC - Proud to be an Arab!

Katherine Adam - Dancing Convener

Currently the representative of the Scottish Country Dancing group on the committee, I've been a member of GSA since we moved to Guernsey in 1984. My husband, Hunter, and I have both done a stint as President. I come originally from Aberdeen and lived and worked in Glasgow for 12 years. I was an educational psychologist in Scotland and helped set up a service for dyslexic people in Guernsey. Now retired, as well as dancing, my time is taken up with gardening, dog-walking, looking after my 3 year old grand-daughter, volunteering at Citizens Advice Bureau and being an unpaid secretary at home.

Jacqui Sallis - Blethers Editor

Angus Kemp - Treasurer

Angus, a chartered accountant, was born in Glasgow, and is Honorary Treasurer. He came to Guernsey in 1985 to further his career; planned to stay for the usual 2 years but has been here ever since! In his spare time (what spare time?) he enjoys playing football and tennis (should he be doing this at his age?) and looking forward to reading the books he has been collecting for the last 20 years but never had time to read.

Elaine Gray

Compared to many on the Committee, I'm a relative newcomer to the Island, having arrived in February 2006. Having been born in the glorious hamlet of Tillietudlem (of Craignethan Castle fame) I then enjoyed stints in Wishaw, Glasgow and Hamilton before heading out to the Cayman Islands in 2003 with my work as a litigation lawyer. The Caribbean was much too sunny, so in 2006 I headed back to the more sensible climes of Guernsey. I've now re-trained as a Guernsey Advocate and am enjoying the challenges of life in Court Row.
