Scottish Dancing

Scottish Country Dancing is one of Scotland's best exports - what else gives food for the soul in its music, exercise for mind and body, social contact and fun- all in one activity!
The Guernsey group meets every Wednesday evening at Blanchelande Girls College between 7pm and 9.30pm. The first half-hour is for new dancers to learn the basic steps and formations, the rest of the evening is spent in exploring new dances, and enjoying old favourites. The cost for the full evening is no more than £3, less if paid termly in advance.
We usually have a weekend in November when we invite a teacher from elsewhere to lead a workshop, then have a social evening dance with live music if possible. We host a Ball weekend in the spring, when dancers from UK, Jersey and France join us, and we dance to a live band. There are also other social dances arranged during the year. Members of the group also go to Balls and dance events off-island, in Bude, St Quay Perros, Jersey etc.
We are always happy to welcome new dancers, whether you come as a couple, with a friend or on your own. Come along any Wednesday or contact Katherine on 257311 if you want to know more.

It's fun at our dancing events and open to everyone to come along and join in. As you can appreciate the dress code does not require to be traditional dress/kilt, as these are reserved for the formal occasions. But if you want to this is fine with us.
